Chinese-origin Man Convicted of Kicking, Abusing Indian Woman in Singapore

A Chinese-origin man in Singapore has been convicted for allegedly verbally insulting and kicking an Indian woman in the chest for not wearing her mask properly as she ‘brisk-walked’ to her workplace during the coronavirus pandemic.

The accused Wong Xing Fong, 32, attacked Madam Hindocha Nita Vishnubhai, 57, near the Northvale condominium in Choa Chu King in May 2021.

“The accused scolded the complainant (and verbally insulted her). To de-escalate the matter, the complainant said, ‘God Bless You,” the prosecution said.

As per complainant, Vishnubhai, she was brisk-walking to Choa Chu King stadium – her work place at a fast-food restaurant – with her mask down when she heard someone shouting.

As per reports, the accused kicked off the complainant before jogging off with his fiancé. Meanwhile, Wong, in his defence, said that Vishnubhai was sarcastic, aggressive and hurled vulgarities at him.
