Former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting has made a bold prediction after India was reduced to 30/2 in 6.4 overs on Day 2 of the ongoing World Test Championship. After Australia piled up mammoth 469/10 in their first innings of their batting, the onus was on Indian openers – Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill.

The duo started well as they smashed couple of picturesque boundaries at The Oval. But, their stay in the middle could not cause sweat to Australians as the duo were soon back in the hut. Australian skipper Pat Cummins took the responsibility to hunt experienced Rohit Sharma, while Scott Boland spoiled Shubman Gill’s stay at the crease.

As Rohit Sharma was trapped leg-before-wicket in the sixth delivery of the 5th over, Ricky Ponting, who is doing commentary at the Star Sports (English Feed) made a bold prediction in regards with India’s hope of winning the World Test Championship Final 2023.

“India has no chance of winning the World Test Championship final from here,” World winning captain said. Speaking of the match, India has been reduced to 71-4 as the top-order – Rohit Sharma (15 off 26), Shubman Gill (0 off 10), Cheteshwar Pujara (14 off 25) and Virat Kohli (14 off 31) –  is back in the pavilion.

At present, Ajinkya Rahane  and Ravindra Jadeja are putting a strong fight against fierce Australian bowlers.
