Entertainment: Actor Prateik Babbar has decided to change his name and as per the fresh update, he will not be called as Prateik Patil Babbar, already reflected on his Instagram handle. According to the actor, the addition in his name is a tribute to his late mother.

Why Prateik changed his name?

“My mother will be a part of each and every endeavour I put my energies into, not that she was not a part before. But having her last name as part of my name just solidifies the sentiment. It’ll be 37 years this year since she left us, gone but not forgotten. Smit Patil will live through my name, quite literally,” the actor was quoted by Hindustan Times.

Speaking of his decision to change the name, Prateik informed that everytime his name will appear on the screen, people will be reminded of his ‘mother’s extraordinary and remarkable legacy.’ “A reminder of her brilliance and greatness,” he was quoted by DNA.

Who is Prateik Babbar?

Son of renowned actors – Smita Patil and Raj Babbar – made his screen debut with the 2008 film Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Naa, starring Imran Khan and Genelia D’Souza. He was recently seen in Madhur Bhandarkar’s India Lockdown.
