He turns trash into treasure: Ex-CSK cricketer is in awe of MS Dhoni’s captaincy

MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings to the tenth Indian Premier League final earlier this week, after beating defending champion Gujarat Titans in their first qualifier in Chennai. As CSK is aiming to equal Mumbai Indians record of the most number of IPL titles in the league, MS Dhoni is being widely lauded for his superb captaincy.

Despite topsy turvy ride, Chennai Super Kings outplayed almost every other team to reserve its berth for the summit-clash. Meanwhile, Mathew Hayden, who had earlier played under MS Dhoni’s captaincy in during early years of IPL, has said that MS can turn ‘trash into treasure.’

“MS is a magician. He takes someone else’s trash and makes them treasure. He is a very skilful and positive captain. He said something really interesting which I thought summed up not only his humility and his truth around cricket where he is represented and that is in Tamil Nadu Cricket Association,” Hayden told PTI.

The legendary batter further said that MS knows the systematic way of going through things and working through them. “The alignment between that association and the franchise, how strong that is in terms of building that process. To me that is MS. He did that for India and he is doing it for Chenai Super Kings,” Hayden added.

Although, MS Dhoni has made it clear that he is yet to decide on his IPL future and will take 6-7 months to come to any conclusion, Ex-CSK cricketer thinks MS will not return as a player.

“Whether he plays or not next year it is almost irrelevant. Personally, I don’t think he will but then he is MS Dhoni,” Hayden concluded.
