2024 Lok Sabha Elections: Samajwadi Party Releases 1st List Of Candidates
LUCKNOW: On Tuesday, the Samajwadi Party (SP) unveiled its initial list of 16 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Among them is Dimple Yadav, the current MP from Mainpuri and wife of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, who is set to contest from Mainpuri, a stronghold of the Yadav family.
The seat has previously been held by Dimple’s father-in-law, Mulayam Singh, and is significant in SP’s political landscape.
Shafiqur Rahman Barq, the incumbent MP from Sambhal, is also returning to contest from the same seat. Ravidas Mehrotra, a former UP cabinet minister and current MLA from Lucknow Central, has been nominated to contest from the state capital, Lucknow.
Additionally, the list includes Akshay Yadav, son of senior SP leader Ramgopal Yadav, as the candidate from Firozabad, and Dharmendra Yadav, Mulayam’s nephew, who will be contesting from Budaun, a constituency he successfully represented in the 2014 general elections.
Other notable entries from the list are Akshay Yadav, son of Ram Gopal Yadav, contesting from Firozabad, and Dharmendra Yadav, Mulayam’s nephew, vying for the Badaun constituency, a seat he secured in the 2014 elections.
